Detailed Work Description

The client behind NotKyle wanted a clean, distraction-free blog to share personal thoughts, tutorials, and commentary. Their main concern was avoiding a bloated design or CMS — they wanted a fast-loading, no-fuss website that still felt polished and functional. There was no need for heavy branding or complex design — just a strong, minimal foundation with room to grow.

I was brought in solely as the Webflow Developer, and I focused on building a lean, scalable content structure using Webflow’s CMS capabilities, with particular attention to usability, SEO, and maintainability.

Key Features Implemented

  • Single Blog Post Template: Designed for readability with optimized margins, consistent heading styles, and in-article image support.
  • Dynamic Author Pages: Each author has a dedicated page that displays their bio and all posts attributed to them.
  • Related Posts Section: On each blog post, related articles are automatically pulled in via CMS filters to increase engagement and time-on-site.
  • SEO Optimization: Implemented dynamic meta titles, descriptions, and Open Graph settings per post. Structured content semantically using headers, schema-consistent markup, and Webflow’s native tools.
  • Mobile-first Responsive Layout: Focused on clear legibility on small screens with simple, touch-friendly design.

Biggest Challenge

The main challenge was building a flexible content system that allowed for future expansion (tags, categories, and author filtering) - without overcomplicating the current, minimal setup. The client didn’t want those features visible yet, but wanted the option to add them later.

I pre-built hidden CMS fields and filters, and created conditional visibility logic so the client can easily activate features later without needing a full rebuild. This future-proofing kept the project lightweight but ready to scale.

What I Learned

This project sharpened my approach to modular CMS design in Webflow, especially in thinking ahead for feature expansion. It also deepened my experience working within tight simplicity constraints — ensuring that even a very minimal design can still feel elegant, functional, and SEO-ready. I also practiced cleaner, faster workflows for structuring blog post templates efficiently.
